our story.
Marley and Honor, husband and wife duo, started mellow studios in July 2021 with a vision to create a safe space for tamariki, rangatahi and adults alike, to express, heal and learn about their voices and artistry.
Marley’s music journey began as a child in kura kaupapa and eventually became his career as a young teen, performing on X-Factor in boy-band Moorhouse. He later was able to develop his own sound as a solo artist, releasing music, touring Australasia, releasing music videos and performing all throughout Aotearoa. Marley is also a skilled producer, consistently producing music for artists within the New Zealand music industry.
Honor has been passionate about the arts from a young age, starting her creative journey in dance and, later in her teens, discovering her voice. She enjoys singing in musicals, worship leading at church and gigging at weddings and events.
Since 2021, mellow studios has reached over 350 whānau in Otautahi and abroad, with 100 families returning on a termly basis for lessons, artist mentoring and hau ora music intervention.
Most recently, the team have been invited into kura kaupapa and other local schools to provide itinerate vocal tutoring and assistance with kapa haka. mellow studios also partner with multiple health and wellbeing organisations such as Te Whatu Ora, Pese Wairua, Womens Refuge, He Waka Tapu, Oranga Tamariki and Key Assets to provide music intervention for tamariki and rangatahi.
